Today is a lazy Saturday and we are all loving it. Lots of playing on the swing set and collecting pine cones from the side yard. Zach and Rachel (the couple that lived with us for 8 months) came to visit this morning. They were doing volunteer work in South Africa for Rachel's schooling and just arrived home. We are glad they are back in the US, and soon, (hopefully...) to be back in Grand Rapids after Rachel finishes her graduate work in Chicago.
Noah has had a rough week. Changes in his schedule are always difficult for him, but this week was more so than usual. He is figuring out how to outmaneuver me when he is in time out. We are anxiously awaiting his bedroom in the new house that will be built especially for him. It will be a safe place for him to go when he needs some time away and I won't have to worry what he's up to or what he's getting into. It will also allow me to sleep at night without worrying that he has wandered. It may sound mean to some, but there will be a lock on his door so he can't get out without us knowing. It's more for safety than anything else.
Josh's spasms seem to be a bit better this week. He seems to be better all around, and for that we are thankful. He has started doing some work for the two golf invitationals being put together to benefit our ministry. It is all graphic work and he's really got a gift for that. He was doing some of this type of work before his accident so it's nice to see him getting back into it!
Ephram has been a bit fussy and his nose is running again. This is usually the sign of another ear infection. After taking him in, we decided to get him in to an ENT to have tubes placed in his ears. Zoe had this done numerous times when she was younger and it made all the difference! We figure we may as well go ahead with it with Ephram if the doctor believes it will help. We have an amazing pediatrician who is so helpful! If anyone in the area needs a recommendation, let me know!
I am going to be having surgery myself on Monday, May 12. It is going to be complicated trying to figure out all the logistics of it, but it's too hard to put off any longer. I am having a hysterectomy because of numerous reasons, all more than anyone needs to know! :-) The surgery is no big deal but not being able to help with Josh or the kids makes it harder for me emotionally. I am going to treat it like a little retreat for myself. I will probably stay at my mom and dad's for a few days after the surgery and just lay around (wait? didn't I just do that last week?) . Anyway, please be praying that everything will come together so that the family is well taken care of while I am recovering.
That's all for today. I am off to take some kids for an evening bike ride. The weather has been absolutely beautiful and we've loved spending time outside. I even noticed Noah has a bit of a tan after the last few days outside. We have a lot to be thankful for. Much love.
