Shelly's Home

Just a quick update... Shelly came home Friday at about noon.  This was a little sooner than we thought.

There has been no treatment for the pain yet.  Apparently that is not going to happen until June 9.  Ridiculous.

On the upside, Shelly's oral pain meds are not leaving her flat on her back.  The pain does get pretty bad every couple hours, but she also has moments when she feels pretty good.

More updates soon.  Thank you for your prayers.

today we took the kids swimming and I saw a wheelchair lift attached to the side of the pool and I said a prayer for you. I have been wondering since this happened what exactly God had in mind and have since shared your testimony with countless friends and strangers that have crossed my path since last January. Last October our home burned down and although I was devastated, your testimony managed to keep things in perspective and keep me strong. My mom was diagnosed with cancer in the spinal chord in December and this past week our car was broken into and they stole the only things I had left after the fire. I couldn't understand why but strangely, you two came to mind immediately. You have led the rest of us without even being aware that you were leading. You have blessed all of us beyond measure. You have paved the way and taught us how to live out our faith without compromise Although when it seems like things can't get any worse, they strangely seem to take a turn for the worst, you still remain authentic yet faithful. I have no advice. I have no answers. And I have no pity. All I have is utmost respect and admiration for your family for all you have endured. I can only imagine what your eternity will look like. I can hear "Well Done, My Good and Faithful Servant: Enter now into the Joy of your reward" and imagine that you and Shelly (and all four of your beautiful children) will breathe a sigh of relief as you begin your eternity of peace and joy as a "whole" family together. Know that we love you and are praying for you. You are simply remarkable. :)

I'm so sorry to hear that Shelly has to wait more than a week for her pain treatment. While waiting, you might want to consider acupuncture--it's often very useful in the treatment of pain. Everyone responds differently, but if it works for Shelly it may give her many hours of relief (sometimes the positive effects can be felt for days.)
Sending love and prayers to you all,
RaeAnn

I continue to pray for you all. I often bring you up in conversations with people and they too say that they will pray for you. I hope that the pain doctors are able to find resolution for Shelly. I know my mom had serious complications after her hysterectomy. I hope they find the source and quick cure for the pain for Shelly. I use BioFreeze for pain with my migraines since the medications I have don't take care of everything when they are bad, so I know it helps with non just muscle type pains. Maybe that would help on Shelly's abdomen? I hope the kids are doing ok with all the changes. Josh, do you have any needs filled right now to help you guys out? Please post anything you guys need and I know everyone will be able to fill them all. There are so many people that pray for you and will step up to help fill the needs. If you need a driver too, if there were a schedule I am sure a team of people could be set up to train with someone familiar with the van and lift on it etc, so that there would be enough to fit any of your schedule needs. Prayers & hugs -- Marianne

Just wanting you to know that you were on my mind tonight and in my prayers. I work in a church here in Lexington where I see over 200 3 and 4 year olds every weekend, and every time I check-in a child named Ava (which is almost every Sat and Sun), a moment of sadness washes over me, and my heart pleads to God on your behalf- pleading for comfort, peace, wholeness, healing, hope, strength and more. Just thought you should know.
